56.6.15 180-Day Recertification Procedure
KRS 645.110
Quick Reference
1. Any interested person desiring to continue a juvenile’s
hospitalization beyond 60 days, may file a recertification petition.
AOC Form JV-23
The petition must be filed before the 60-day commitment is
completed. AOC Form JV-23, Verified Petition for Involuntary
File, date, initial
Hospitalization should be used.
2. Apply the FILED stamp to the petition; add the date and your Document type PIH
initials. Complete a document screen in the existing 60-day

involuntary hospitalization case file using document type PIH.
3. Schedule a hearing within seven (7) days of the filing of the petition, Event type OTH
excluding weekends and holidays as directed by the judge.
Complete a scheduled event screen using event type OTH.
4. If no pleading is filed by counsel for the juvenile contesting the
petition within 7 days of the filing of the petition, excluding AOC Form JV-26,
weekends and holidays, place AOC Form JV-26 and AOC Form JV-27 AOC Form JV-27
