At the alternative apartment that Arnold found in the short period between the defendants’ refusal to rent to her and the termination of her temporary housing, she and her children lived in tight, unclean quarters in close proximity to drug dealing and gun violence. Arnold and her children sometimes slept on the floor after hearing gunshots, and, in one instance, a gunfight occurred outside the apartment door immediately after one of Arnold’s children returned from an errand. In light of the wide latitude granted to trial courts in determining compensatory damages, the aforementioned facts available to the court, and the limited record before us, we cannot conclude that the compensatory damages award reflects an abuse of judicial discretion.
