379 charsLennon contests the landlord’s right to damages for lost rentals after the effective date of the five-day notice to quit, i.e., after approximately November 1, 1988. The argument is that §§ 17 and 23, although included in the lease to assure the landlord the equivalent of ordinary contract remedies for a tenant’s failure to pay rent, so interact as to defeat the damage remedy.
