. The adoption of tort reform legislation could obviously redound to the financial advantage of a private hospital. Ms. Carl, on the other hand, was employed as a nurse, not as a Vice President or lobbyist. Her testimony before the Council would not necessarily have a negative effect on her ability to do her job. Korb's publicized statements, on the other hand, necessarily destroyed his effectiveness as a spokesman for Raytheon. Moreover, it is not readily apparent why Ms. Carl’s testimony as a plaintiff's expert witness in medical malpractice cases would negatively affect Children's Hospital if Children’s was not the defendant. --- 030concurrence by Mack ---
