Since respondent is a pro se litigant- the court must take special care in determining whether she has asserted legally cognizable defenses and counterclaims. Ms. Braxton has raised an affirmative defense and counterclaim alleging breach of the warranty of habitability based on the landlord’s failure to provide adequate security.
