Rule 2, Canon 2A (requiring a judge to promote public confidence in the impartiality of the judiciary). In other words, in order to promote public confidence in the impartiality of the judiciary, as required by Rule 2, Canon 2A, the Code requires a judge to err on the side of caution by favoring recusal to remove any reasonable doubt as to his or her impartiality.
