This issue involves none of the “complex and protracted” questions of law that have previously moved the courts to reject certain defenses in unlawful detainer actions. (See Union Oil Co. v. Chandler (1970) 4 Cal.App.3d 716, 726 [84 Cal.Rptr. 756]; S.P. Growers, supra, 17 Cal.3d 719, 729.)
