396 charsThus, every citizen has a right protected by state law to report criminal violations to the police. Since petitioner merely engaged in a peaceful and lawful exercise of this basic right when she reported her landlord’s crime to the police, her eviction violated the statutory prohibition against evictions in retaliation for the exercise of any rights under the law.
