585 charsDr. Coates presents three points in her appeal which are considered together because all three points claim the trial court erred in granting a new trial to Torre Specialties on Dr. Coates’ breach of lease counterclaim. The trial court states three grounds for ordering a new trial: (1) the verdict was excessive; (2) the jury determined the verdict without regard to the evidence; and (3) the verdict was the product of the jury’s bias and prejudice. Thus, the trial court granted the new trial motion because the verdict in favor of Dr. Coates was against the weight of the evidence.
