[1] The Housing Code, Chapter 20 of the Code of General Ordinances of Kansas City, Missouri, was repealed on October 15, 1971 and a new title adopted. The Property Maintenance Code, as Chapter 20 is now designated, encompasses the substance of the predecessor Housing Code, and in Section 20.2 asserts with renewed emphasis: "The purpose of this code is to provide minimum requirements for the protection of life, limb, health, property, safety, and welfare of the general public and the owners and occupants of residential and nonresidential buildings."
