604 charsAlso, in April 2001, Ms. Davenport-Met-calf lodged a complaint with the Newport Police Department, alleging that plaintiffs were making multiple, annoying telephone calls to her and taping notes to her door. She had her telephone calls traced, and alleged that on April 16, 2001, plaintiffs left six messages between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Subsequently, a criminal complaint was filed against each plaintiff, alleging that they had made crank telephone calls in violation of G.L.1956 § 11-35-17. These complaints were subsequently dismissed under Rule 48(a) of the District Court Rules of Criminal Procedure.2
