First, the defendants claim that the court improperly found that their independent contractor acted with *740gross negligence in causing the fire that destroyed the building. They argue that the court’s findings do not support even a finding of ordinary negligence. According to the defendants, use of a plasma cutter in proximity to combustibles that were “concealed” cannot support a finding of gross negligence because the combustibles necessarily were not visibly apparent or identifiable. We disagree.
