Summarizing our analysis, we find that this duty of protection arises, first of all, from the logic of the situation itself. If we were answering without the benefit of any prior precedent the issue as posed *484by the appellee landlord here, “whether a duty should be placed on a landlord to take steps to protect tenants from foreseeable criminal acts committed by third parties,” we should have no hesitancy in answering it affirmatively, at least on the basis of the facts of this case.
