Owners also assign error to the trial court's dismissal of their negligence per se claim. The concept of negligence per se, however, does not constitute a separate cause of action. The doctrine merely substitutes a legislatively created standard of care for the lesser common law standard of reasonableness. See Adkins v. Aluminum Co. of Am., 110 Wn.2d 128, 144, 750 P.2d 1257, 756 P.2d 142 (1988).
