The Obermollers characterize the October 1987 letter from the Bank’s attorney as a “notice to quit.” However, the letter merely informed the Obermollers’ attorney that the Obermollers’ redemption period would expire within several days and suggested legal proceedings might be necessary if the Obermollers did not vacate the premises at the end of the redemption period. We do not believe the Obermollers are “tenants” within the meaning of the unlawful detainer statute because they were neither renting nor leasing the property from the Bank, but were former owners remaining on the land during the redemption period.
