Sec. 50-69. - Definitions.
The following words, terms, and phrases, when used in this division, shall have the
meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates
a different meaning:
Disability: A physical or mental impairment that substantially limits an individual's ability
to perform one or more major life activities of a person; a record of having such
impairment; or being regarded as having such impairment; but such term shall not include
current, illegal use of a controlled substance as defined in M.G.L.A. c. 94C.
Discriminate: Design, promote, implement, or carry out any policy, practice, or act that by design
or effect segregates, separates, distinguishes or has a disproportionate impact according
or because of a person's race, color, religious creed, national origin, sex, age,
genetic information, disability, ancestry, marital status, family status, sexual orientation,
veteran status, membership in the Armed Forces of the United States, gender identity,
gender expression, or status as a person who is a recipient of federal, state, or
local housing subsidies, or rental supplements.
