389 charsSjogren had gotten halfway down the stairs when her daughter closed her apartment door. Without the light from her daughter's apartment, the stairs became "pitch dark." Clerk's Papers (CP) at 25. Sjogren proceeded down the steps slowly while holding the hand railing. She misjudged a step and landing, and fell. Sjogren caught her foot in the opening between two steps, fracturing her leg.
