655 charsThe second canon we apply is in pari materia , the related-statutes canon. Generally, statutes relating to the same subject matter or with a common purpose "should be construed together." Apple Valley Red-E-Mix, Inc. v. State by Dep't of Pub. Safety , 352 N.W.2d 402, 404 (Minn. 1984). As we already noted, section 504B.385, which applies to residential tenants who seek to address a violation in a residential building by depositing rent with a court administrator, incorporates section 504B.441. Both section 504B.385 and section 504B.441 provide remedies for tenants to address violations in residential housing. Accordingly, we construe them together.
