508 charsis a specific statute that refers only to situations in which a landlord accepts rent after giving notice of breach of the rental agreement. On the other hand, § 34-18-14 is general in nature and defines the term “notice” as it is used throughout the chapter. It cannot be used to override other sections that call for a particular form of notice.
