In this case, the court focused solely on the amount involved and the results obtained when it fixed counsel fees as a percentage of the award of damages. The court ignored the other factors relevant to the reasonableness of attorney’s fees in this case. The court did not consider, for example, work performed by the plaintiffs counsel, as documented by the attorney’s affidavits, prevailing hourly rates or the award of attorney’s fees in similar cases. The court abused its discretion in seizing from the full panoply of relevant factors merely one factor to the exclusion and disregard of the others. See id.
