We reject the BHA’s argument that attorney’s fees should not be allowed to the plaintiffs counsel because the services furnished by the Boston University Legal Aid Program were free. The payment of attorney’s fees is authorized explicitly by G. L. c. 186, § 14. An unsuccessful defendant is liable for "the costs of the action, including a reasonable attorney’s fee.” No exception is made where counsel is a legal services organization nor where the defendant is a public entity such as the BHA.
