Mazgani responded to the complaint by filing a SLAPP (strategic lawsuit against public participation) motion. (Code Civ. Proc., § 425.16.) She contended Clark’s complaint arose from Mazgani’s privileged communications, made in the course of proceedings before the Los Angeles City Housing Department and in the unlawful detainer action, and from the acts of filing and serving the eviction notice. The trial court agreed and granted the motion. Judgment was entered on May 30, 2007, after a hearing on a motion for attorneys’ fees, and the action was dismissed. Mazgani appealed. Clark filed a cross-appeal. DISCUSSION
