To state a claim for retaliation under the Fair Housing Act, the Fentises must show: (1) they were engaging in a “protected activity” either when they attempted to sell their property to ACOF to be used as a home for the mentally ill or when they told a reporter that they would sue the City to force approval of the loan to ACOF; (2) the subsequent investigations of the California Hotel were causally linked with the Fentises’ exercise of their protected activities; and (3) they suffered some resulting damage. See 42 U.S.C. § 3617. A
